Creating has been a constant thread throughout my life, evolving from years of working as a silversmith into my practice as an abstract artist. My early training instilled a sensitivity to material, process, and detail—an awareness that continues to inform my approach to painting and mark-making.
Through abstraction, I translate the connection between what I see in the natural environment and what I feel, both emotionally and physically. I explore balance, rhythm and intuitive response, allowing each work to develop through layers and shifts in tone and texture.
I draw deep inspiration from the openness of my country and the landscape that surrounds me. It’s scale, rawness, light and sense of time inform my approach to colour, surface, and texture. I’m constantly reminded of the land’s resilience and enduring presence.
I work across canvas, paper and wood, using acrylic and oils. My approach is intuitive and rarely begins with a fixed plan. Instead, I respond to marks, building multiple layers that create depth and contrast within the work.
My work is about connection: to place, to time and the act of looking closely.
